Recreational Opportunities

Jewel Mill Plantation is about the land and all the natural resources that go with it. Land stewardship is a lifelong vocation, bringing one closer to their creator and those around you. This type of location can have a soothing and health-benefiting effect on those who take the time to allow it to influence them. This isolated location lets you experience Georgia’s great outdoors with only those you choose to share it with.
Hiking
JMP offers over 20 miles of trails, each with varying degrees of difficulty. These trails will expose you to a diversity of habitats supporting fascinating fauna and flora.

Fishing
The plantation's NE boundary is the Little Ogeechee River, and its East boundary is the 225-acre Hamburg State Park Lake. This lake is a renowned fishing location. You can fish from the bank, use one of the kayaks, or rent a Jon boat with a trolling motor. For Georgia laws and regulations, go to http://georgiawildlife.dnr.state.ga.us/fishing.aspx.

Kayaking
Hamburg Lake is a great place to explore using one of our three stable-style Kayaks. Beginning kayakers will appreciate the 10-horsepower boat motor limit, which provides a smooth surface to enjoy. Using the kayak to fish lets you get into those famous lily pads and Big-Mouth Bass hiding spots.

Birding
Over thirty varieties of birds have been identified in this area of Georgia. See how many you can locate on this parcel.

Star gazing
It takes a remote location uninfluenced by urban lights to truly get the most from your time stargazing. JMP offers this opportunity so bring your telescopes and plan this as part of your family retreat.

Hamburg State Park
Visit Hamburg Mill and Museum or rent canoes or paddle boats. Hamburg State Park offers a variety of activities during the year. For more information, go to: www.gastateparks.org/info/hamburg. www.gastateparks.org/info/hamburg.

Sandersville
Washington County was settled following the Revolutionary War. The county seat, Sandersville, is 19 miles south of JMP. For more information, go to http://washingtoncountyga.com.
